History
During Easter 2002 we began construction of Lara Rose Garden with the kitchen garden.
This consisted of about 20 x 1 – 2 tonne rocks which made up the border, 20 x David Austin roses, lavender, rosemary, several thyme varieties, marjoram, sage, parsley, oregano, basil, chives, cumquats and others still to be added. |

Water usage was one of our biggest concerns.
When we arrived in 2001, the previous owner had installed a simple septic tank system with outfall being deposited onto sheep pasture.
This wasted both land area because it became a bog and water as well.
After looking at many water purification methods/systems, we decided that a sand filter was the most natural and economical of all the systems available.
This of course supplies delicious drinking water to our roses, trees, grasses and all sorts of ornamentals.
Every time we use the toilet, bath, shower, laundry, kitchen, we are giving our plants a drink.
We also have a huge display of tanks for sale carefully placed into the landscape to encourage sustainable water wise gardening. |

The Garden
Every year now, the garden has huge colorful displays of roses, lavenders, fruit, vegetables, olives, bamboos (clumping), succulents, herbs, natives and ornamentals from Spring to Winter.
Why not organize a group and include a short course. Visits and courses by appointment only.

>Or you may just want to come for a relaxing stroll through the many beds of fragrant roses. The rose garden is a great way of choosing roses for purchase as the health, vigor, color and fragrance are all on display.
